In 2021, Danielle Lemaire got to know the SVD during a residency at the Park Zuiderhout mission house in Teteringen. Brother Wiel Swinkels, who spent some fifty years as a missionary in Papua New Guinea, introduced Lemaire to the many objects he had brought back to the Netherlands from the Sepik. This encounter, among other things, inspired her to create work about intercultural interactions in the context of the colonial mission.
